Baby foods and books...

Now that Brandon is 5 months, we are starting to let him taste foods here and there. So far he has tried apples, banana, mango, squash, and garbanzos. Because he is still 5 months however, he only has a taste and that's it (we don't want to mess up his stomach). We have decided that we will wait until he hits the 6 month mark so he can start eating more. For now he is strictly on mommy's milk and baby rice cereal once a day.

While we wait for him to turn 6 months, I decided to research a little bit. I found 2 great books on healthy eating, full with recipes. The first one is by Annabel Karmel. Her book focuses on healthy eating habits from birth to toddler-hood. I love how she outlines every topic and goes into detail. It really has helped me make more smart (and healthy) decisions when feeding Brandon. Unfortunately the book is not on her website anymore. The second one is Bebe Gourmet, by Jenny Carenco. This book is a must-have!!! Complete with 100 french inspired healthy recipes, this book is sure to help you develop an adventurous eater. What I absolutely love about this book is that it has so many illustrations and easy to follow step by step recipes, not to mention the yumminess that your baby (and you) will enjoy. So far I like what I am reading. There is one more book I want to get, Super Nutrition for Babies. I have read so many good reviews on that one and I cannot wait to get my hands on it. One thing is for sure, we have decided that Brandon will be on strictly all organic fruits and veggies.

Lastly, I am dying to get my hands on this beaba babycook!! I love love love the fact that it's a steamer and blender all in one. So far I love all the reviews I've been reading so I think we are on board.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

5 months of joy

(those dimples. be still my heart.)

I can hardly believe this little guy is now 5 months. I never really appreciated when people said "they grow so fast", but now that I am a mommy I am witnessing it first hand and it sometimes makes me sad. Having said that, mommy-hood is definitely the best thing ever. The sweet little smiles, the little giggles over the silliest things, and that unconditional love and trust they give you. My heart melts every time.

I started working this week and it was the hardest thing to do. I had been a stay at home mom for all 5 months and the strong bond we have created made it so hard for me to go. Needless to say, tears were shed. Yesterday, after only my third day, I decided it was too much to go back to work full-time so suddenly. Brandon wasn't eating right while I was gone, and he was crying a lot. Poor little guy was probably so confused. I spoke to my boss and she agreed to allow me to work only part-time. Yay. I am so relieved, and I know my little guy will be so happy. To me, Brandon will always come first.

Milestones
  • 4/16 first time giggling (he was 3 months)
  • 5/27 reached his footsie with his mouth (he was 4 months)
  • 5/28 held baby bottle by himself (even though he doesn't drink it lol)
  • He sits supported
  • He can do baby sit-ups while I hold his hands
At 5 months old he
  • Sleeps in his big boy crib, no more bassinet :)
  • Wears 12-18 month clothing! He's gonna be a tall boy
  • For the most part sleeps through the night, waking up only once to nurse and right back to sleep
  • Splishes and splashes during bath time
  • Attempts to roll over, it really is the cutest thing to see
  • Barely fits in his baby car seat
  • Eats baby rice cereal with his breast milk,
  • Has started to drink out of a bottle, sometimes.

And we are back...again.

What a long time its been. My baby boy is already 5 months and is growing beautifully. He is the cutest little guy ever.

Hi guys! Since I haven't been updating regularly, I thought I'd give you guys a bump update :). Here are all my belly pics from the past few weeks up until today...

I am 34 weeks and 1 day today! I am officially 6 weeks from my due date!!! I am soooooo happy I cannot even contain my excitement ♥
On Wednesday teddy and I went to our weekly NST and ultrasound appointment. We had a big scare that day that really made me see how much this little guy already means to me. When they were doing the ultrasound and taking measurements, I noticed there was something off in the wave that measures the oxygen going to his little brain. I noticed it had a periodic under-dip that it never has. I didn’t say anything but the nurse came in about 5 minutes later and told me that the Dr. wanted to see me and re-do the test because it looked like the baby wasn’t receiving enough oxygen to his brain and that if that was the case they might have to send me to L&D and deliver me :( We waited for about 10 minutes for the Dr. to come in…it felt like an eternity! Luckily, the Dr. gave us good news. He said everything looked great. He said sometimes the baby kicks while they are running the test and it causes the test to come out this way. Phewww!!! I was sooo scared. I am glad we are ok and it was just a scare…

I can't wait for him to be here!!!

San Diego

Omg it's been sooooo long since I last updated. I feel like such a terrible blogger :(

Our trip to San Diego 2 weeks ago was just lovely. We started off by doing lunch early Friday in San Juan Capistrano as we made our way down. Friday night we walked downtown SD and came across some awesome finds (like that bug having a Corona and the Michael Jackson figurine). We then headed to Coronado Island for a beautiful walk. LOVE. We ended the night with a swim followed by dinner.

Saturday we had a quinceanera to go to and Sunday was spent with family.

Overall it was a great trip and I can't wait to go back <3

27 weeks of bump.

The past week has been very exhausting. Last weekend I didn't feel much movement from baby B. Naturally I was sooo nervous and worried. Monday morning I called my doctor. I was hoping she would tell me it was all normal and not to worry. Instead she told me to go to L&D and get it checked out. Luckily, baby looked fine on the monitor. His heartbeat was normal and everything was fine. I had two contractions in the hour I was there but I didn't feel them (weird). Tuesday and Wednesday I was back and forth from my doctors office to L&D to the specialist. I like that they all go the extra mile just to be on the safe side and make sure that baby B is ok, giving me some peace of mind.

All that said, we have hit the 27 week mark guys! This means we will be a full 7 months next week, which is amazing news if you ask me. I cannot wait to meet my little guy. That will sure be the happiest day of my life. For now, here are the things that are making me smile:

1. My 27 week bump
2. Looking at the 26 week/4 day bump picture and seeing a tiny bit of growth this week
3. Being included in the arts & crafts for my baby shower (love love love)
4. Rainy cozy mornings in bed, staring at our newly built crib!!! (yes we finally built it and it's all ready for baby B!!!)
5. My long wavy brown hair (yay for prenatal vitamins!)
6. Early mornings after a storm. The sky just looks soooo lovely.

Happy weekend friends!

and the bump keeps a' growin'...

Baby Bumpin'

Here I am bumpin' at 26 weeks. Yikes. This baby is growing oh so fast. But that makes me a happy girl because it means he will be here very very soon (not too soon though, I need him to fully bake before he comes out of the oven)

 Baby Bumpin'
Here we are at 25 weeks 3 days. Getting ready for a pizza dinner with teddy, teddy's parents, sister and sisters bf. It was a good night. Then again, when is it NOT a good night when you're eating pizza, right? :)

Our Room
Teddy and his dad worked on giving our room a total face-lift to welcome baby B. (oh yes, we have a name for baby!!! buutttt we will not share it until baby is here. sorry guys! lol) The room is all painted and ready to go. All we have to do now is build our new bed, build the crib, and put everything back in order :) I am soooo excited!!!

Baby's Clothes
Yesterday, I spent all morning de-tagging all of baby B's clothes that we have got him over the past weeks (there were literally mountains of clothes everywhere!!!). I decided to wash them now as we will be super busy these next couple of weeks. Baby B's wardrobe is super super cute and I have a feeling it will only get cuter...*sigh*

Other than that, we have been up to pretty much the same ol' stuff. Our lives are pretty much on an "all things baby" phase and we are loving every minute. We are also super excited for a few things coming up:

*prenatal classes (which started this week and teddy and I LOVE them)
*our San Diego trip later this month
*teddy's bday!!!
*baby shower in early November. meep.

Life is good. Happy Friday.
